I don't like the silencer/extended barrel though. Being new I'm nervous to try and switch it back to the original.

That's pretty high, or "beastly" as you put it. Most pistols are around 280-320fps on propane.

Not if he is using the included extended inner barrel and mock suppressor that usually comes with them. That will get you a much higher velocity than the standard 300+/-FPS range.

My 2012 review to the same gun.
Poor surface finishing (but it gets slightly improved in later WE glock models, and probably later batches of G18).
Good 300-ish FPS without long inner barrel (about 360 FPS with it).
Can take the fluorescent sight of WE G26 (WE G26 is select-fire like G18), which is great.
