Protec classic skate with 2 stage foam, gloss black + light sandpaper to remove shine = job done. Cost = $45.

Couldn't find the matt black anywhere local, possibility of it being discontinued.

Will a 80$ hockey helmet do for beginners?

Danke March 9th, 2013 16:03

I wouldn't go out and buy a hockey helmet to use.

If you already have one I suspect it might be a bit to hot for comfort.

Go for the Protec classic skate. It's cheap and easily modded. Someone wearing a hockey helmet outside of a hockey rink makes it look like they ride the short bus to school.

Here are some Protec helmets for ya. Make sure to Email Darren before ordering to make sure they have your size in stock.

Airsoft Depot got a good variety to choose from.

If you want to record your plays, get one with a ARC rail and to mount it to.

I run the fast helmets because the vent holes allow the heat to escape.

I get hit a lot in CQB games when we pile like 30 guys into a small area. I LOVE CQB but I'm super paranoid about any bleeders that would show up while wearing regular business clothes, because of the nature of my job. I wear a PASGT helmet, mesh face mask and full seal goggles. And a Shmeagh for the neck.

Recently, I've been trying out swapping the helmet for a boonie hat, but then my ears are unprotected. Still don't have a good solution for that one yet..

I modified one of those army of two masks. The glass is from X800 goggles, the bottom for a mesh face mask, and the side is just heavy duty fabric.

The side part is VERY important if you ever want to be able to aim.

The $109.95 and higher FAST helmets that airsoftdepot.ca has in stock not only look awesome but they also hold up to some pretty decent impacts. I've slipped and fallen on my back so hard that I winded myself, cracking my head back onto a wooden floor at the same time. Helmet was fine and more importantly my head was fine.

The tier one guys startred the trend of wearing bike/climbing/kayaking helmets for bump protection so just about any of them will do the job.

I LOL'd hard ahaha.

I ran with a Protec Ace helmet for the longest time. Sprayed mine with krylon and was good to go!
